These Do's and Don'ts have been developed, over time, to make involvement in your specific community group, your regional group, and the main Thurston County, WA group productive, enjoyable, and enriching for you, the public, and other residents of Thurston County, WA. Do's and Don'ts evolve, over time, based on feedback from group members, so it's good to revisit them once in awhile.
NOTE! If you do not live in a particular community or region, please do not try to join that group. If you're looking to reach more people, simply post in the main county group.

Join only one community group based on where you live, i.e. Steamboat Island Community. If you want to reach outside residents of Thurston County with your post, post it in The Thurston County Communities group.Â
 Ask questions or solicit recommendations about anything Thurston County, WA related.
Request a referral to local businesses or professionals.
Invite members to a local cultural, educational, art, or music event.
Announce or remind members of nonprofit fundraisers or activities.
Ask for help finding a lost person or pet.
Report emergencies, traffic issues or anything out of the ordinary.
Let people know if you need help in a power-outage or emergency.
Share a photo that captures your Thurston County life.
Find community and Thurston County neighbors with common interests.
Recognize people or groups for their contribution to your community and/or Thurston County as a whole.

Don't want you to do
Don't try to join a community you do not live in. Join your residence community and then if you want to post to more communities, simply post in the main community...The Thurston County Communities.
Don't post anything that could be considered a scam, even if it isn't. The proliferation of scams is increasing and it's hard to tell between real scams and posts that fall in scam categories. Posts that could be considered a scam, even if it isn't, will be removed. If the same person posts a potential scam they will be given a warning. Three strikes you're out. While there are others, the following are post types that are not allowed.
Duct Cleaning - Chimney Cleaning - Husband/Wife got transferred and we have to sell everything - Bogus jobs - Charity contributions - Quizzes - (someone) died recently in an accident... I think you may have known (this person) - Lost dog (animal) scam - Alzhneimer's patient scam
Don't advertise yours or someone elses commercial goods and/or services. Instead, post them on Bee Local Thurston County.
Don't advertise Pyramid Schemes, Franchises, Multi-Level type jobs, etc. etc. That's what Facebook Ads, Craigslist, Job sites, etc. are for.
Don't sell things — This isn't a buy-sell group. You can go to the Buy Sell By Owner - Thurston County, WA group or other similar groups to sell things.
Don't rent things — This is a local discussion group, i.e. what's happening in the area, who could use some help, etc. etc.
Don't spread gossip or make unsubstantiated claims about anyone, including but not limited to public officials, educators, politicians, business people or companies, media outlets, etc.
Don't engage in religious opinions, religious marketing, promotion of religious gatherings or religious services, etc.
Don't post anything of a political nature, including, but not limited to, political rants or personal attacks of any kind or offer unsolicited, biased advice about local politics, even if you believe you are right (which, of course, you are!)
Don't give personal status updates on how your day is going. Please reserve these for your own Facebook page.
Don't publicly communicate with an individual, by name Or description. Please contact them directly or put the word out in your own personal status.
Don't actively ask for money including, but not limited to, Go Fund Me pages and links.
Don't use Hate Speech or Bullying - Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
Don't post Promotions or Spam - Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed.
